Libraries should have the books people and librarians want, and books should not be banned because someone or some group deems the content of any particular book inappropriate, dangerous or seductive to a potential reader. That is because what might seem inappropriate to one person, may well be educational, historical or entertaining to another.  

However, if some choose to ban books because that person or group thinks the books they want to ban could cause trauma or worse to the reader, they should also consider banning the Bible because it contains X-rated stories about child murder, genocide, genital mutilation, rape, and torture.

If a government decides to ban books they deem inappropriate in content or language, then the Bible should at least be on the list of banned books based on any of the 100 quotes listed in the following 26 pages.

1. SEXISM

1 Corinthians 14:34-36 Let your women keep silence in the churches for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

Telling women that they are not allowed to speak in church. It is a shame for them to speak in church, and if they have any questions they have to ask their husbands when they get home.

2. SEXISM

1 Timothy 2:11-14 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

Women are not allowed to teach or have authority over a man. They must be silent.

3. CHILD TRAFICKING – CHILD ABUSE – RAPE

Genesis 19:8 “Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man. Let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes. Only unto these men do nothing, for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.”

Lot offers his two virgin daughters up to be raped by an inebriated mob, rather than let the crowd attack two strange men he just met.

4. RAPE – MURDER

Judges 19:22-25 Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house round about and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, “Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him.”

And the man, the master of the house, went out unto them, and said unto them, “Nay, my brethren, nay, I pray you, do not so wickedly. Seeing that this man is come into mine house, do not this folly. Behold, here is my daughter a maiden, and his concubine. Them I will bring out now, and humble ye them, and do with them what seemeth good unto you, but unto this man do not so vile a thing.”

But the men would not hearken to him. So the man took his concubine, and brought her forth unto them and they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning, and when the day began to spring, they let her go.

Like the story of Lot giving up his daughters to be raped, but this time with a different man and his concubine. She was given to a rowdy crowd to be abused/raped all night, and then she was left for dead on the man’s doorstep.

5. RAPE – MUTILATION

Judges 19:29 And when he was come into his house he took a knife and laid hold on his concubine, and divided her, together with her bones, into twelve pieces, and sent her into all the coasts of Israel.

A man finds his concubine raped to death on his doorstep and then he takes a knife and cuts her into 12 pieces which he spreads all over Israel.

6. KIDNAPPING – MISOGYNY

Deuteronomy 21:10-14 When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive, and seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her that thou wouldest have her to thy wife; then thou shalt bring her home to thine house and she shall shave her head and pare her nails.

Telling soldiers that if at the end of a battle they see a woman that they like, they should just take her.

7. CHILD MURDER

Deuteronomy 22:20-21 But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel, then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father’s house. So shalt thou put evil away from among you.

Mandating that if a young girl is found to not be a virgin, then all of the men in the city must stone her to death on her father’s doorstep.

8. MUTILATION – MYSOGYNY

Deuteronomy 25:11-12 When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets, then thou shalt cut off her hand. Thine eye shall not pity her.

If a woman is breaking up a fight between her husband and another man and she grabs a man by the private parts. The men must cut off her hand.

God telling people to kill their friends if their friends try to entice them to worship other gods.

A man is caught gathering sticks on a Saturday and is then stoned to death.

God kills every firstborn child in Egypt, even the firstborn of the cattle.

God demands that every man must be circumcised and every newborn baby must be circumcised when they are 8 days old.

Abraham circumcises all of his slaves, his 13-year-old son, and then himself.

King David and his soldiers kill all the men and women of another culture, and then steal their clothing and their animals.

2 Samuel 8:2 And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought gifts.

King David kills two thirds of the Moabites and keeps the rest as slaves.

1 Kings 20:29 And they pitched one over against the other seven days. And so it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined: and the children of Israel slew of the Syrians an hundred thousand footmen in one day.

The Israelites kill 100,000 Syrians in one day.

Jesus tells his disciples to eat his flesh and drink his blood.

Abraham attempts to murder and then burn his son Isaac.

Genesis 34:24-29 And unto Hamor and unto Shechem his son hearkened all that went out of the gate of his city; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city.

And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males. And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem’s house, and went out.

The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister. They took their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field, And all their wealth, and all their little ones, and their wives took they captive, and spoiled even all that was in the house.

Jacob’s sons trick all of the men in the town into getting circumcised and then three days later when the men’s penises are sore Jacob’s sons come back and kill all the men in town with swords. Afterwards Jacob’s sons take all of the town’s possessions and take the women and children as captives.

47. MASTURBATION – MURDER

Genesis 38:8-10 And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother’s wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother. And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother’s wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.

And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also.

Judah tells Onan to have sex with his dead brother’s wife. Onan does it but then ejaculates onto the ground. And then God kills him for it.

48. MURDER – GORE

Genesis 40:19 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.

Joseph interprets a baker’s dream saying that the baker will be decapitated, hung from a tree, and birds will eat his flesh.

49. DEATH THREATS – MUTILATION

Genesis 4 24-26 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him. Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me. So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.

God tries to kill Moses, but then Moses’ wife circumcises their son and throws his foreskin on the ground by Moses’ feet. Then God lets Moses live.

Genesis 7:17-18 Thus saith the LORD, In this thou shalt know that I am the LORD: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.

And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall lothe to drink of the water of the river.

God turns a river into blood. The fish die and the river stinks.

If a virgin who is betrothed to a man is raped by another man, then both the rapist and the woman must be killed.

12,000 men and women living in a place called Ai are killed.

Judges 3:29 They slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man.

10,000 people of Moab are killed.

85 priests are killed. Then all the men, women, children, infants, and animals of the city of Nob are slaughtered.

Solomon sacrifices 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep.

1 Samuel 18:27 Wherefore David arose and went, he and his men, and slew of the Philistines two hundred men and David brought their foreskins,and they gave them in full tale to the king, that he might be the king’s son in law. And Saul gave him Michal his daughter to wife.

David kills 200 men, cuts off their foreskins, and gives them to Saul. In return, Saul gives David one of his daughters.

Stating that any man, woman, or child who does not follow the god of the Israelites must be killed.

God gives a man named Jehoram an incurable disease in his bowels. After two years the man’s bowels fall out and then he dies.

2 Chronicles 25:11-12 And Amaziah strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the valley of salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand. And other ten thousand left alive did the children of Judah carry away captive, and brought them unto the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, that they all were broken in pieces.

Amaziah kills 10,000 men of Seir. Amaziah keeps another 10,000 men alive, but then throws them off a cliff and their bodies are broken to pieces.

2 Chronicles 28:6, 28:8 For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah an hundred and twenty thousand in one day, which were all valiant men; because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers.

And the children of Israel carried away captive of their brethren two hundred thousand, women, sons, and daughters, and took also away much spoil from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria.

Pekah kills 120,000 men in one day. Then Pekah takes 200,000 women and children as slaves.

God’s enemies have their children smashed to pieces before their eyes, and the wives/mothers are raped.

Isiah 13:18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eyes shall not spare children.

Children and unborn babies are killed.

God says fathers will eat their sons, and sons will eat their fathers.

God tells his people to slaughter old people, young women, and little children.

Thou shalt even drink it and suck it out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.

A woman is accused of having sex with heathens so her nose and ears are cut off, she is stripped naked, her children are taken from her, her house is burned down, and then her breasts are cut off.

81. MASS MURDER – CHILD KILLING

Daniel 6:24 And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.

Some men and their wives and children are all fed to lions that tear them to pieces.

A woman is broken to pieces by smashing her upon her own children.

Micah 3:2-3 Who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones; Who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron.

God accuses the Israelites of skinning people, ripping their flesh off, breaking bones into pieces in order to make a stew that they will eat.

Matthew 5:29-30 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Eyes are plucked out and hands are cut off rather than throw an entire body into the fires of hell.

Matthew 8:32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

Jesus casts some devils into a herd of pigs. The pigs then run off a cliff and die.

Matthew 10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

If families don’t believe in Jesus, then they will end up killing each other. Brother kills brother. Fathers kill kids. Kids kill parents.

Romans 1:26-27 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature. And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

God relinquishes people to homosexuality as punishment for not worshiping him.

88. TORTURE

Revelation 9:5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.

Rather than be killed, some people are tortured with scorpion stings for five months.

89. MASS MURDER

Revelation 11:13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

God kills 7000 men with an earthquake.

90. BLODDY HORROR

Revelation 16:3-4 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea. And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.

The sea is turned into the blood of a dead man and everything in the sea dies. Then all the rivers and springs are turned into blood as well.

91. HORROR

Revelation 16:16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.

A beast with ten horns eats a whore and burns her with fire.

92. HELL

Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

All non-believers are thrown into a lake of fire.

93. MISOGYNY – MURDER – INFANTICIDE – ABORTION

Genesis 38:24 And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.

A pregnant woman named Tamar is called a whore and then Judah decides to burn her.

94. INCEST – MURDER

Leviticus 20:11 And the man that lieth with his father’s wife hath uncovered his father’s nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

If a man has sex with his mother, both of them must be killed.

95. HOMOSEXUALITY – MURDER

Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

If a man has sex with a man, both of the men must be killed.

96. MASS MURDER

Revelation 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Jesus tells Death and Hell to kill one quarter of the earth with swords, starvation, and beasts.

Deuteronomy 23:1 He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

If a man has wounded testicles or a severed penis, he is not allowed into the congregation of the lord.

98. MUTILATION

Zechariah 11:17 Woe to the idle shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.

If a shepherd leaves his flock his arm will be cut off and his right eye will be cut out.

99. SEX CONTEST

Esther 2:3-4 And let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto Shushan the palace, to the house of the women, unto the custody of Hege the king’s chamberlain, keeper of the women; and let their things for purification be given them: And let the maiden which pleaseth the king be queen instead of Vashti. And the thing pleased the king; and he did so.

A king dislikes his wife, so he gathers all of the local maidens together and has his way with them. He then keeps the one that pleased him the most.

100. MISOGYNY – MURDER

2 Kings 9:33-36 And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot. And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this cursed woman, and bury her: for she is a king’s daughter. And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands. Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel.

A woman named jezebel is thrown off a building, trampled by horses, and eaten by dogs. There was nothing left to bury but her hands and feet and her skull.

101. BLOODY MURDER

John 19:18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

Jesus is nailed to a cross along with two other people.
